The Piacentino Lab at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to investigate how membrane-lipid composition shapes cell migration and invasion. Our developmental cell biology group uses neural crest cells and embryonic models to uncover fundamental principles of cellular behavior in a dynamic in vivo context, and to examine how developmental mechanisms are repurposed in disease.
The successful candidate will lead a fully funded, mentored project combining chick embryology, cell culture and stem-cell-derived neural crest models, live microscopy, lipidomics, spatial mass-spectrometry imaging, and functional perturbation approaches, with scope to shape questions at the intersection of their interests and the lab’s broader goals. We welcome thoughtful, collaborative scientists with a strong foundation in experimental research and backgrounds in developmental biology, cell biology, cancer biology, or related fields. Experience with lipidomic or metabolomic analysis, mass-spectrometry imaging, and/or stem-cell differentiation is especially valued.
