Developmental Biology Internship
Overview
The Developmental Biology Internship aims to provide Society for Developmental Biology trainees with professional hands-on experience in publication and communications, with the goal of enhancing visibility of the SDB society journal.
Term
This is an unpaid remote position with a 1-year term. An option to renew for an additional year may be available. Quarterly check-ins with the DB EIC are recommended to ensure progress is being made and goals are met, for both the journal, the society and the intern personally.
Duties
Duties include participating in Developmental Biology (DB) weekly meetings, keeping minutes and helping compose the agendas, researching information, gathering data, coordinating new initiatives, and acting as a liaison with other SDB committees . Our interns have the unique opportunity to help shape the future of both the journal and the society, broaden their network with members in SDB and the wider DevBio community, and collaborate closely with SDB leadership.
Qualifications
The ideal applicant has a developmental biology background and an interest in scientific business planning. Applicants must be current trainee members of SDB (graduate students who have joined a lab for their dissertation research or postdoctoral fellows). Attention to detail, ability to take clear and detailed notes, and strong communication skills are preferred. Interns need to understand basic computer and technical skills. Initiative and time management is needed for this role. Interns must have approval from their mentor/PI.
