Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Cell Biology in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position.
The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology offers a comprehensive and innovative education in core domains of the life sciences including molecular biology, microbiology, developmental biology, and genetics. Our curriculum is enhanced through real world skills-building, inquiry-based courses, experiential learning, and training opportunities in state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. Our world class faculty are dedicated to understanding biological phenomena and to developing applications that advance society, while also training our students to be the next generation of scientists, health professionals, educators, and enlightened citizens.
Responsibilities
- Establish an independent, productive, and sustainable research program in the broad area of cell biology (examples include but are not limited to: cancer biology, plant cell biology, neurobiology, or stem cell biology) as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding.
- Mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Teach undergraduate courses in cell biology and biology, as well as develop graduate courses that integrate cell biology with other biological subdisciplines.
- Promote student success among the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) disciplines and invest deeply in KSU students.
- Participate in professional service within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University and beyond.
- Contribute to the collaborative environment of the department and college.
Required Qualifications
- A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Biology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline is required at the time of hire.
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications in Cell Biology
- Postdoctoral research experience in Cell Biology or a related discipline
