A full-time postdoctoral position is available on an annual 12-month appointment in the Yang Lab at the University of Washington. The lab focuses on generating and utilizing human pluripotent stem cell and primate models to dissect the cellular and molecular mechanisms of embryogenesis and investigate mechanisms underneath developmental failure and reproductive complications, including infertility and miscarriage. The lab is currently funded by multiple NIH grants and start-up funds, so the funding is secure for the next few years.

The lab’s current projects includes:

  1. Studying the contribution and consequences of  chromosomal and genomic instability in embryogenesis in both fetal and placental lineages.
  2. Developing implantation or stem cell-based embryo models as the platform to understand maternal-fetal interaction.
  3. Investigating the relative fitness of cells during early development and specification.

The candidate will carry out the research work under the supervision of Assistant Professor Min Yang within the Center for Reproductive Sciences at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  The lab is located at the institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine and also affiliated with the Department of Genome Sciences, BBI, as well as the Washington National Primate Research Center.

Candidates with a developmental biology background, stem cell experience, and sufficient genomic skills are preferred. The successful applicant will have demonstrated a high degree of motivation, professionalism, experimental acumen, organizational skills, teamwork, and a thirst for knowledge and scientific progress.

The job responsibilities include designing, conducting, and evaluating experiments, contributing to the group through innovation and collaboration, presenting and publishing research findings, and participating in departmental and extramural scholarly activities. Candidates should have a strong track record of scientific excellence and outstanding communication and technical skills.
