The Ushiki Lab (https://sites.wustl.edu/ushikilab/), starting January 2025, in the Department of Genetics at Washington University in St. Louis, is seeking a lab technician and postdoctoral researchers. Our lab aims to gain a deeper understanding of the function of enhancers in placental and skeletal development, diseases, and evolution through mouse in vivo functional characterization, such as in vivo Massively Parallel Reporter Assays (MPRAs). We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic lab members interested in the following research topics:

  • · Preeclampsia and abnormal pregnancies
  • · Craniofacial birth defects
  • · Bat wing development
  • · Development of mouse in vivo enhancer assays

Postdoctoral Positions (Wet and/or Dry): Candidates must hold a PhD and/or MD degree in genetics, genomics, developmental biology, or a relevant field. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in gene regulation in craniofacial and/or placental development. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in mouse genetics and/or computational genomics, but highly motivated candidates with experience in other biology-related areas are also encouraged to apply.

Technician Position: Candidates must have a BS degree in biology or a related field. Under the supervision of the PI, the technician will learn basic molecular biology experiments and mouse colony management. The technician will also assist in ordering and setting up the laboratory. The successful applicant will start in the fall/winter of 2024.

To Apply: Please submit the following documents to Aki Ushiki, PhD ([email protected]). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Aki.
