The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Genetics. The Department has begun a major expansion of the faculty as part of a 5-year strategic plan. We seek outstanding, creative investigators in any area of genetics, including but not limited to developmental genetics, immunogenetics, evolutionary genetics, disease mechanisms, gene expression/regulation, functional genomics and systems biology, and other related fields.
The Department has active research programs in mammalian (human, mouse), Drosophila, viral, bacterial, cancer, evolutionary, and comparative genetics, RNA and protein biochemistry, structural biology, multi-omics, and computational biology. The Department offers a highly collegial and collaborative environment and interactions with numerous Colleges (Agriculture, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Public Health and Health Professions), Institutes (Genetics, Emerging Pathogens, Diabetes, McKnight Brain) and Centers (Cancer, CDC Southeastern Center of Excellence in Vector Borne Diseases, Inflammation & Mucosal Immunology, NeuroGenetics, NIH Southeast Center for Integrated Metabolomics) that foster interdisciplinary research at UF.
