The Department of Biology seeks qualified candidates to apply for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2023. The Visiting position is a one-year position, but may be renewable for up to two additional years. The position is designed to provide teaching experience at a small liberal arts institution for a person seeking full-time employment at such an institution.

Successful candidates should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent). ABD candidates will be considered. Prior teaching experience (including teaching assistantships in graduate school) and/or post-doctoral research experience is desirable but not required. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate will be committed to excellent undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting. Primary teaching responsibilities will be in our introductory major courses and in our 200-level cell biology course. Additional teaching responsibilities may include our non-major courses and our 300-level genetics course. Future opportunities may exist to develop additional upper-division courses in the candidate’s area(s) of expertise. The annual teaching load for this position is seven courses; both lecture and laboratory contribute equally in our course load.
