Responsibilities – A PhD Research Assistant will be hired under the advisement of Dr. Wei Xu in direction of molecular biology in aquatic species. The successful applicant will be working in understanding the molecular response of marine shellfish calcification to environmental stress. Basic molecular and cellular techniques and microscopy are required. Experience in bioinformatics is a plus. The successful candidate will also get opportunities to obtain experience in other aquatic animal species. The student will obtain a PhD degree from the Marine Biology Program of TAMU-CC Department of Life Sciences (https://www.tamucc.edu/science/departments/life-sciences/marine-biology/). The successful candidate is expected to start in Spring or Fall 2023.
Qualifications –
(1) B.S. in biological sciences or related field.
(2) Basic knowledge in molecular biology/ genomics. Knowledge in bioinformatics is a plus.
Salary – $24,000 - $28,800 a year plus fringe benefits and tuition waiver
