Successful candidate will oversee laboratory operations and conduct experiments for a research program that studies the bioluminescent bacterium Vibrio fischeri and its symbiosis with the bobtail squid Euprymna scolopes. Will ensure smooth lab operation by coordinating with other researchers, ordering equipment and supplies, monitoring inventory, preparing media, and coordinating undergraduate hourly workers to maintain an aquarium system, sterilize supplies and dispose of waste. Will also conduct research, performing microbiological procedures as well as molecular genetic approaches such as cloning and PCR.
• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences required
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Experience handling bacterial cultures
• Experience in molecular genetic manipulations (PCR, cloning, etc.)
