Position Description:
The Division of Intramural Research (DIR) at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) is seeking to recruit an outstanding Staff Scientist. The candidate should have a strong track record of achievements in molecular/developmental biology, mouse genetics, and genomics. The candidate should have experience with the analysis of next generation sequencing data and possess computer programming skills (including Python, R). The ideal candidate would also have experience with chromatin biology and mammalian germ-line development.
 
The mission of the Section on Mammalian Development and Evolution is to understand the molecular basis for the evolution of new traits in mammals. The laboratory uses a multidisciplinary approach, including cutting edge tools in molecular biology, mouse genetics, evolutionary biology, genomics, and biochemistry. Specific topics of interest include exploring the mechanisms of meiotic crossover determination by PRDM9 and its link with human infertility; and exploring the function of endogenous retroviruses, transposable elements, and Kruppel associated box zinc finger proteins during mammal development and evolution.

Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of scientific research productivity sufficient to perform these duties and responsibilities.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent, completed formally mentored postdoctoral training in related research areas, and an outstanding record of publication.

Demonstrated experience in staff training and mentoring

Appointees may be U.S. citizens, resident aliens or non-resident aliens with or eligible to obtain a valid employment authorized visa.  Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
