The Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Illinois University anticipates hiring a tenure track faculty with a focus on teaching biology using evidence-based and inclusive practices. The position is at the assistant professor rank and is a full-time nine-month appointment. The main responsibilities are teaching biology for majors and non-majors, especially at the introductory and intermediate levels, with opportunity also for upper-level course(s) within the candidate’s area of expertise. Secondary responsibilities include mentoring and supporting students from diverse backgrounds in undergraduate research projects in the applicant’s area of expertise (e.g., cell biology, physiology, ecology, discipline based education research) and service to the department, college, university, and community.
