The Stowers Institute for Medical Research invites visionary early career scientists to apply for an Assistant Investigator position.

The fully-funded position includes salary, lab, and core expenses throughout the candidate’s appointment. The Institute provides additional funds for ongoing equipment needs. This position includes $600,000 per year for research funding in addition to start-up funds. The initial appointment of 7 years is then subject to renewal every 6 to 7 years. The total package for an Assistant Investigator is more than $4.2 million over the first term, increasing after each promotion. The Stowers Institute offers numerous opportunities for faculty development in our Graduate School and further training in mentorship.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a groundbreaking and independent research program and will benefit from and complement the Institute’s existing strengths in genetics, developmental/regenerative biology, evolution, biochemistry, and neuroscience. The Institute offers exceptional core facilities and technology centers staffed by over 100 scientists.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral experience demonstrating innovation and excellence in their field. Candidates must possess a long-term vision of their scientific interests and to actively contribute to the Institute’s mission and collegiality.
