The Glineburg lab is seeking applicants for a full-time Research Lab Technician position in the Schmid College of Science and Technology at Chapman University. The position requires maintaining Drosophila stocks, performing molecular and cellular biology experiments (e.g. western blots, qPCR, PCR), performing behavioral and cytologic experiments on flies and fly tissue, conducting confocal microscopy, and contributing to manuscript preparation. The position will include training in fly husbandry practices, and data analysis using ImageJ and Prism. In addition to research activities, the position will include ordering and maintaining lab supplies, keeping the lab organized, and training undergraduate researchers. Research projects will focus on neurodegeneration and oogenesis.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biology. Ideal candidates will have prior laboratory experience in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or with Drosophila

Ideal start date is Sept 1st, 2022, but flexible dependent on applicant’s timeline. 1 year appointment with option to renew for a second year.
