Postdoctoral Position – Adipose Biology – Juan Sanchez Gurmaches Lab

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center

Cincinnati, OH

Posted 4/7/2022

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Juan Sanchez Gurmaches in the Division of Endocrinology. The long-term goal of our research is to identify new therapeutic approaches to treat/prevent obesity derived pathologies by understanding the physiologic and pathologic fundamental mechanisms that control adipose tissue development, growth and metabolism. In our lab, we exploit novel genetically modified mouse and cell culture models and a combination of imaging, genomics, genetics and metabolomic techniques to identify new transcriptional, signaling and metabolic mechanisms controlling adipocytes and adipocyte progenitors. Our work also involves patient derived iPSC, pediatric samples of white and brown fats and to understand the mechanisms associated to new genetic variants associated to very early obesity disorders. We are seeking creative recent graduates (PhD, MD or MD/PhD) with peer-review publications, a high capacity for independent thinking, collaborative work, and problem-solving with a strong interest in our area of research. Experience in mouse studies, cell culture techniques, molecular biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, metabolism, and/or microscopy is a plus.

Please send a cover letter detailing your past research accomplishments and future research goals, and your CV by email to Juan Sanchez-Gurmaches, PhD, at [email protected].
