A postdoctoral position is immediately available in Dr. Kai Jiao’s lab to study heart development. We are in Dept. of Genetics, Univ. of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). UAB School of Medicine is highly recognized for its strong basic and clinical research programs. In the fiscal year of 2018, UAB School of Medicine ranks 19th in NIH research funding among all medical schools in the US. We primarily use mouse as the model system complemented with other model systems such as ES cells. We are currently studying the function of several epigenetic factors during embryonic and early neonatal heart development using cutting edge techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9, Single cell sequencing, ChIP-Seq, etc. The lab is well funded with grants from NIH and AHA. Highly motivated individuals with strong background on molecular, cellular and/or developmental biology are encouraged to apply.
