Message from the SDB Publication Committee

Developmental Biology has just completed its 40th year as a leading forum of important research in our field. Help us celebrate by sending in your manuscripts and subscribing for a personal copy!

Developmental Biology is the official journal of the Society for Developmental Biology. It is among the top three journals for presenting the cutting edge research in our field. Furthermore, proceeds from the journal significantly contribute to supporting our annual meeting, regional meetings, web site, student travel awards and all the other activities that we, the SDB members, have asked the Board of Trustees to support. Publication in Developmental Biology has several important advantages:

  • Publication time is rapid: it averages 4 weeks between manuscript receipt and the completion of the first round of review, and 10-12 weeks between acceptance and publication.
  • Publication is inexpensive: no page charges, two free color figures per article, with additional color production at the Editor's discretion, 50 gratis reprints.
  • Dissemination is broad: over 8 million users; over 1200 academic institutions in 15 countries; references are linked to Medline and PubMed; cooperative links between Developmental Biology and journals published by 24 other leading scientific publishers.
  • The Editorial board has broad expertise that ensures knowledgeable peer review of your work.

By subscribing to Developmental Biology, you also will have access to the electronic copies of the journal, and to the new IDEAL electronic accessing and ALERT programs, which provide an easy way to keep track of the breaking information in your field rapidly.

And don't forget that SDB member subscription rate (USD 275.00 for 24 issues [hard copy] in 2001, on-line access is free) is very reasonable and payment can be rolled together into the same invoice for your annual SDB membership dues.

Our support for Developmental Biology is also the support for our Society and our discipline.

Sincerely, SDB Publication Committee:
Sally Moody, Chair, George Washington University, U.S.A.
Margaret Buckingham, Pasteur Institute, France
David McClay, Duke University, U.S.A.
Patrick Tam, Children's Medical Research Institute, Australia
Masatoshi Takeichi, Kyoto University, Japan
