Meeting Program
Poster Competition
Report by Marnie Halpern, Jr. Faculty Representative
The 58th Annual Meeting of the Society of Developmental Biology was greatly enriched by the high quality of posters prepared by student and post-doctoral participants. This year's poster competition included 66 posters (30% more than last year's meeting). Posters were judged by a panel of twelve accomplished scientists working in diverse areas of developmental biology. The judges were greatly impressed by the participants and their work, which made this year's selection especially difficult. Sixteen exceptional posters were selected as semi-finalists, on the basis of the presentation and quality of the science, and the expertise and knowledge of the presenter. All seven finalists received books generously donated by the publishers and the third, second and first-place finishers also received a one-year subscription to Developmental Biology, provided by Academic Press. In addition, the second place winner received $100 and the first-place winner will be provided with a round-trip ticket to England for next year's meeting of the British Society for Developmental Biology, who will host the winner.

We commend all of the participants and strongly encourage them to present their work at future SDB meetings!
