The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in areas providing insights into mechanisms of human disease. The successful applicant will set up an experimental laboratory and interact with faculty whose interests span the fields of ecology and evolution, cell and molecular biology, development, neurobiology, and computational biology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, postdoctoral experience in a relevant area of research and have published in recognized peer-reviewed journals. The candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, supervise doctoral level graduate students, and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals who are members of groups that historically have been underrepresented in the professoriate.
