SDB 72nd Annual Meeting in Cancun

The  72nd Annual SDB Meeting will be held June 16-20, 2013 in Cancun, Mexico in conjunction with the International Society of Developmental Biologists' 17th International Congress of Developmental Biology! The abstract submission deadline has passed, but the pre-meeting registration deadline is May 15.  After May 15, on-site registration will be available.  The deadline for hotel reservations at the Congress rates is extended until May 10.  The final meeting program and submitted abstracts will be posted online in May.


Satellite Symposium of the 72nd Annual SDB Meeting

SDB is sponsoring Making and breaking the left-right axis: Laterality in development and disease, a Satellite Symposium of the 72nd Annual Meeting, June 15-16, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cancun, Mexico, organized by Marnie Halpern and Oliver HobertRegister here for the satellite symposium and the SDB/ISDB meeting by May 15.


Choose Development! Program Launches with Mentor Workshop

The Society for Developmental Biology Choose Development! Program was launched on April 18-19, 2013 at the Northeast Regional SDB Meeting at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. A workshop was held for all participating faculty and lab (graduate student or postdoc fellow) mentors who will host an undergraduate in their labs for a summer research internship.

2013 BSDB Spring Meeting Report

John Young won the best student poster competition at the Society for Developmental Biology's 71st Annual Meeting in Montréal, Canada which sent him to the 2013 British Society for Developmental Biology's spring meeting in Conventry, England.

Vote now in the 2013 SDB Election!

All current SDB members can vote for President-elect, Junior Faculty Representative, and Representatives for the Mid-Atlantic, Northwest, and West Coast regions.  If you are a current member you should have received an email with a unique link to the ballot.  If you did not, contact SDB at [email protected]. The election deadline is May 20, 2013.

Did you know?

  • SDB members can apply for non-SDB meeting grants to fund member-organized conferences central to developmental biology.  Deadline: May 1 and December 1, 2013.
  • SDB members are eligible for travel awards through the FASEB MARC Program
  • SDB will provide travel assistance for Latin American investigators to visit a host lab in the US or Canada to learn new techniques or approaches in developmental biology with the SDB Latin American Short Visit Grant.  Proposal deadline: May 1 and December 1, 2013.
